Once upon a time… there was me, a normal 25 year old guy just trying to live a normal life. And what do you know? Clearly no one cares about that. Do you know how I know that? Because no one will ever leave me alone! Well, actually it’s mostly this old man that randomly follows me around. I have no clue what’s up with him, I never asked for this.
It all started on a normal day, I was in my living room just reading a book like normal. When I hear a tap at my window, I look up and what do I see but an old man right outside of my window. Why are people like this? Can’t I just enjoy my time in peace? Well, I walked over to the window, and opened it to see what he wanted. I looked at him and asked, “what are you doing outside of my window? Can I do anything for you?”
He looks at me and says “ You want a penny?” While offering one to me. I look at him, and then at the penny. “Uhhhh, no? I don’t need your rusty penny.”
“I promise it will help you, pennies help you think. And you look like a thinking man, so I’m sure you could find a use for it.” He looked up at me eagerly.
“Uhhhh, I don’t know what you’re talking about. How is a penny supposed to help me think? I can think fine without using a penny.”
The old man just looked at me. For like 3 whole minutes. It was starting to get a bit awkward, so I closed the window and walked into a different room. You want to know what I heard a few seconds later? Another tap-tapedy-tap on my window. But this time it was in the room I just moved into. I sighed and went to the window to open it. “ Yes?” I asked, “what is it this time?”
“You sure you don’t want this penny?” He asked. “I’m sure you would love using it.”
“Yes, I’m sure I don’t want it. If I feel like I Really need a penny I have plenty of my own sir.”
The old man looked at me and said, “Ok…….if that’s really what you think I won’t give it to you. But I have some advice for you. Anywhere you go you always need to have some salt in your pocket. You hear me? Always have salt on you, you never know what you’ll need it for.” And then he walked away, hopefully back to the assisted living where he lives, but honestly I don’t know.
Anyways, that’s what it’s like living where I live. That old man is always coming around trying to give me random things like nails so I can fight people off with them or something.
And that’s why I don’t recommend living in town.
