I was in a quandary. I liked the book; I really, really enjoyed it. But as it sucked away more and more of my time and attention, conviction pricked. My heart was not where it should be and this story was leading me into sin.
But…but…but…
In the middle of this dilemma, God brought a song into my ears. It was a Patch the Pirate song, God is so Good/You are Always Good.
“You are always good, you are only good, You are always good to me.
Though my eyes can’t see, help my heart believe You are always only good.”
It is true; He is always good, including those times when I really don’t want to obey. The bondage and death and corruption come when we reject Him. His ways are life. His boundaries keep us safe and well.
After a little more struggle, I put the book the book in a box and put that box in another box, then went on a walk to pray and work on getting my heart back in order.
And you know what? It was a very good walk.
