I Have An Excuse

All alone at work, it was time to turn on something to listen to. I opened a new tab on the computer and found a site broadcasting hymns. Some I knew, others I didn’t, but one rather startled me with its opening line: “I have an excuse”.

What? A song about making excuses is a hymn?

Then next line came: “To praise my God and Father.”

Oh. Okay. That made more sense.

Do you know what that stated excuse was, that excuse to praise God, to give thanks, to glorify Him? “Because I know that He is and that He’s on the throne.”

How easy it is to delay that praise and thanks until a particular blessing stirs up a particular excuse to do so, when really, we have a constant excuse to glorify God.

Since finding this song, it has been a frequent encouragement in times when worries press in and I need to refocus, because I don’t need to wait for an excuse to praise God—I already have one.

In case you would like to hear this blessing yourself, HERE is a link to a recording.
